The songs are:

Think and Be Merry

So in my last post I mentioned my friend Alan, now he informed me of something that I didn't know about(since I hadn't spoken to him in a little while). but he has his own blog. thinkandbemerry.wordpress.com...

Now it's not a normal blog, in the about section of his blog he states:

"Here you will find a collection of articles to make you think. This page does not focus on any particular topic but is rather an amalgam of interesting facts and freethinking essays. If you have any suggestions, criticisms or see anything that gets you moderately stoked, please feel free to comment."

I took a gander because he told me he had posted a poem on there and I was interested to see what his poem was about and...if he could write poetry...anyone can try write poetry, but not everyone can actually write poetry...for me...his poem was actually quite good...but I digress..

Being a university student his arguments are logical, but the reading isn't too over your head so I really enjoyed it:)

Maybe check his page out

Ola:)

Hey all you lovely people...

I know I haven't been on in a while...and as usual..I'm gonna say I've been busy...

And after talking to a friend of mine last night...I realized that sometimes being this busy becomes an excuse when it's the reason...

Last night I spoke to my friend Alan for the first time in MONTHS...and then I realized...there's a lot of my friends that I haven't spoken to in a really long time...all because I'm too busy... I can't let that be a reason...then I'm not really being a friend now am I?

So things are going to change...I'm gonna stay in contact with my friends via email, sms, BBM, MXit...anyway I can...because what kind of friend am I if I don't make the effort right?

So here's my little challenge to all of you who read my blog...get in contact with your friends...the ones you haven't seen in a while...they meant something to you a while ago...I'm sure they still do...

Much love,

Bugz

VALENTINES DAY!!!!!!!

Yes yes yes:)

It's that day of the year you buy gifts for your loved one and show your love for them:)

Nelson and I aren't gonna do much today for it, just exchange gifts and maybe go for McFlurry's. I know it doesn't sound romantic but I don't mind, he promised to take me out at the end of the month.

But I hope you all have an amazing Valentine's Day today filled with love and joy not only for those who are in relationships but for those who are single, because everyone is loved:)

He's done it again...

Just when we thought that Jacob Zuma may have some brains he goes and reminds us that he has nothing...

His new thing is...if we don't vote for ANC we are going to hell...yes if we don't hold a ANC members card we are going to hell...
And then the ANC spokesperson backs him up saying that everyone understood the context in which he was speaking...supposedly he was saying that people who vote for ANC are voting for Heaven and those who don't are metaphorically voting for the devil....hmmm

When you read headlines like..."God backs ANC"...that's not the idea the general public get is it?

That's not what I got...I've just been told by my president that if I don't vote for him I'm going to hell...and using that religious blackmail for those who don't know better is just gonna get him more votes and that's not right...if we aren't careful...he'll be the next Robert Mugabe.

Oh and the next great thing the ANC spokesperson said was that people who are upset are just jealous that they didn't come up with it first...of course others wouldn't come up with it!!!!!!!

This whole story is coming from a guy who has how many wives and children?... I seem to remember that the Bible says that you can't even marry another person until the person you are married to or have divorced from has died...

Don't speak of religion when you show no faith...it's not fair to use those who know no better and blackmail them with a faith you clearly don't have just to get more votes. That's just sick and twisted.

Registration DONE!!!!

YES!!!!

I am finally a registered fourth year Bachelor of music student...let the fun times begin...took me another 5 hours but I got there...

And as my mother kindly pointed out...I missed one word in my last post...his nose was broken...

Tonight is Nelson's weigh-in so tonight we see his opponent and it's changed again. The second time his opponent changed this week. But hopefully it won't change again tonight coz then that just sucks and plays tricks on a person. I can't wait for tomorrow night to be over, I need it to be done. The fight needs to come and go.

And then, university starts next week and my life returns back to normal, just less lectures which I like the sound of, but I know it's going to be a lot more work, but at the end of the day... the degree is worth it all.

So that's just my little update and life continues...

Much love...

Fun Times!!!!!!!!! and some MMA...

So, today has been one of THOSE days...you know THOSE days that just don't seem to end?

"What may have happened?" you ask?

My university, that's what...
So my friends and I decide to be nice and early for registration today...like 7:30am early...Well...that didn't happen. We got there and got told to leave and only come back because the first years hadn't finished registering and so they would only start us at 12...our 4th year of registration...FAIL! We decided to go to a local mall and had nice coffee at the coffee shop and then helped Jane find herself an awesome white dress for a show she's playing in. We decided we'd try get back before 12 and achieved this by getting to university at about...11:15. We then FINALLY got our forms...filled them in....and waited...and waited....and waited...let's say this waiting period lasted oh...4 hours...yes 4 HOURS for how many signatures?

Only 1...

Yes...1...to say that we are taking the right modules for our course.

So after we got that signature at 3:30pm we rushed down to see if we could get our Dean's signature before we go for data capturing...knowing it would be a pointless, but still having faith...
So we sat outside the head of our department's office for about 15 minutes and then the secretary comes.
The head of our department has a meeting and so our forms were gonna be taken and we have to come back at 8am tomorrow morning to complete our registration...

Yes, that did actually happen. Yes, she did actually take our forms...and am I registered for my fourth year degree for my Bachelor of Music?

NO!!!!!!!!!!!

But I must say something that is very positive:)
Sunday I went to Fight Force at the exhibition center to support five of the guys Nelson trains with. It was amazing and so much fun. My throat was raw from all the screaming I did.
I know people have some issues with cage fighting, and I do understand it. I know it's a blood sport, but once you know the rules and know how protected the guys (and some girls) actually are, you see it with different eyes.
I certainly did.
Nelson is fighting on Saturday at MFC and I'm not gonna lie. I'm nervous about it. After all, anything can happen...I mean one of the guys from Nelson's gym got his broken in the fight on Sunday...But I support him because he loves doing it and the guys that I've met are some of nicest people I've ever met. Humble. Honest. Well-grounded. Kind. And yet intimidating at the same time...just kidding.
So on Saturday I will be there screaming his name and supporting him, knowing he is well trained and ready for this and he knows I'm proud of him because it takes guts to get into that cage in front of all those people.

And that's what matters...

Much love

So recently we've had a bit of trouble in our house. I've been going from strength to strength in my relationship, but things haven't been so easy for my brother. He's really battled through his break up, but now...
I'm so happy to see my brother back to who he was. He's happy, smiling and going out and really having so much fun. It took a lot out of all of us, but all this positive energies in our house is making us feel so good that even I'm feeling so happy for him.
Nelson has also been treating me like an angel and I appreciate everything he does for me, even putting up with all my rubbish when I become full of it lol.

But this is my thing, lately I've seen so many relationships break up, not because of anything but the one partner just being selfish and not realising what they have.
I look at the one guy from work and I would kill to date a guy like him...then again I am...and I just hear how his ex had no idea what she really had. Same as my friend Rox, she's beautiful, amazing and such a gem of a person, but her ex broke up with her and hurt her so much with his excuses, not reasons, for why he was breaking up with her.
I know they say that life is never easy, but where does it say that life is meant to be hard? Why do people like Andy, Jacques and Rox end up meeting people like this and being underappreciated for what they bring to a relationship? I for one know how lucky I am and I am planning on keeping this one around, but really now? I really hope those three find someone that will truly appreciate them and will give back as much as they give in a relationship because they deserve it.
And the same goes for all those out there who are like these three, everyone really deserves to be appreciated and loved for who they are, not what the other person expects them to be, and if they can't see it...it's their loss. They're missing out on one of the most amazing gifts that can be given and it's their loss not yours:)

Oh my word!

So in all my glorious wisdom I decided to try something different...and now this...I wonder how many of you are actually going to be able to read this post while this wonderful portal we use decides it's not going to display any of my posts...this is not cool at all. Fix yourself so that people can read what I have to say...ok...it may not be all that important...but I have something to say and I believe I should be allowed to say it and not be hampered by the internet...

Not cool at all...FAIL!

A new direction

Because of my discovery of the vloggers, you may find the direction of my blog is going to change, I don't want to offend any one so I'm giving you guys some forewarning :) Things are not going to stay as they were and I know that I haven't blogged in a long time, but a lot of the times I don't know what to say.
My life is a repetitive mixture of university, work and Durban City Orchestra. So there's not much to tell people, it's the same old stuff over and over again and whenever something exciting happens, my mom has already uploaded the pictures and then I think to myself "what's the point?". So I just leave it and see what else comes my way.
Now I have decided to go out into the world and say what's needed to be said, be it funny, serious or just plain....what the heck....
So be prepared for a change and let's see where this will go...coz it could become a bumpy ride...

Charlieissocoollike!

So I was just sitting on youtube looking for fun medleys and I found this guy. His name is Charlie...obviously, but this guy is hilarious!
He is a vlogger (video blogger) so he's actually brave enough to be one of the people who puts a face to the words that are being said out there.
Through dear Charlie, I came across a whole lot of other vloggers who are insanely hilarious, I couldn't actually believe how I could have never seen this whole other world out there.
These people go out there and speak their minds about what's happening or actually just talk about stuff that people are going to enjoy, or drink Charlie-shakes (which I'm never ever EVER going to try).

So I recommend you go out onto youtube and check these people out, yeah they are using the internet differently than most people like you and I think it should be used, but they are speaking their minds unashamedly and I think that's something they should be proud of :)

And life goes on...

It's been ages since I've posted here...It's not like I do it on purpose, it's just that when I come to think of posting then the internet is down or going too slow and then I get distracted by university work and then once again it slips my mind and the whole twisted process begins again, but we finally got the internet fixed and I can finally say some things...

Life has been getting progressively busier, I now have another piano student :) Casey is such a sweetheart. She's in high school, but even though she's busy with school work, she works hard. She's not put off that I've had to taker to basics to learn to read. Which I'm really lucky with because I've had a previous student who really didn't like doing it and didn't work so his parents pulled him out of lessons. The best about Casey is that she loves everyone elses nightmare of scales... scales drives me insane and I dread every technical lesson...but when I gave Casey her first scale for her exam she immediately started practising it. I love seeing someone so eager.
I'm learning now that as a new teacher I know very little and luckily I'm majoring in Instrumental Teaching Methods for Piano which is helping me so much. I'm alreaady incorporating everything I'm learning in lectures and finding out about amazing teaching methods books that are out there. I AM NEVER USING JOHN THOMPSON'S EVER AGAIN!!! I really want to get the "Piano Adventure" series. It's an amazing method that my teacher recommends and you see so many results in it. Most other methods don't have the reinforcement and review like this series...but of course this requires that wonderful thing called money...which I have to really save up for.

I must admit that all of this tires me out. I usually get home from rehearsals at night and put the stuff in the bread machine for fresh bread, chat to my mom and then go to bed. All the varsity work and rehearsals and teaching keeps me really busy and Nelson accepts it, even supports me on the nights when I just have to sms him and tell him that he can't come over coz I'm busy with work. It was really good to get a reply once that said he understands and that my future is more important to him than seeing me. I really got lucky with him, I realised that he's all I ever wanted in a guy and he was right in front of me...even though we weren't talking much after an unfortunate incident on my part, but we're over that :) all the guys I've been with in the past were not what I wanted, they didn't even treat me the way I really deserve to be, Nelson does. I never feel guilty, I'm always protected and I'm always cared for. I just hope I'm everything he wants. Some people at his work can't even believe he's dating a musician. At first I was insulted, but then you have to think about it...He's in such a disciplined work environment, working at an IT company where you can't make mistakes or else there's huge drama, he's also a fighter and does MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) cage fighting. Everything he does is so disciplined and I'm a musician who is wierd, wild, fun loving and just plain strange, half the time rehearsals start 30 min late coz people never ever arrive on time. I could never work in an office, I hate that restricted feeling, I love having fun in my work and that's what teaching and performing does for me.
Lol can you believe all that contemplation about how lucky I am to have him as mine is coz of a Demi Lovato song...well two actually. "Catch Me" is like our little song...now Mom don't say anything about it, it's not like we intentionally sat down and decided this was going to be it. We were both one day just having such a bad day, I was sitting in my car waiting for rehearsal to start and listening to this song and I was talking to him on Mxit, he told me he was listening to the same song and thinking of me. This was like last year, now two weeks ago or so, we had a braai at our house and then Andy's girlfriend Janine said that her and Andy have a song, I said I didn't even think Nelson and I had one, he and I looked at each other and smiled and then realised that "Catch Me" was pretty much "ours".
The other song that has me thinking all this stuff about my ex's and Nelson is "Everything You're Not." I just realised that these lyrics were so true abour my past and my ex's and the reasons why I've left every single one of them...One was actually about Nelson. I was with a guy and I bumped into Nelson and realised that he wasn't what I wanted coz guess what...he wasn't Nelson...that's what you get with 8 years of history with a guy...and I thought my relationships could never get as complicated as my parents 2 year break...I've done the 2 year break and more with this guy, but we always come back together, which says a lot.

Jeez, I just realised I've been writing so much... well I guess it's good coz then my family over seas can get an idea of what's going on in my life lol. I can't wait for one thing though and I'm hoping so much that this happens coz then it means I finally go to...AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!! I'm being serious here my dear family there in America. There is a chance that I can go to America at the end of next year for a teacher's conference with my lecturer and class. It's for a week and then my very clever mother pointed out that while I'm there, I might as well visit everyone for another 3 weeks after it so that I can spend a month over there...now it's not set in stone...it's only being discussed so don't get too excited yet until I've had confirmation which would probably only happen next year so I'll keep you all posted on that but yeah, if I go I'm hoping to see everyone that side coz I miss you all so much...I know I say it often but I really do.

Oh and I found out something really amazing that I don't think anyone would ever expect, especially since I've known him for years and years as my minister at my church, but my minister, Brian and our family are related. Distantly by either mom's grandfather or great grandfather coz they're both Richard's and that's all we got, but yeah...it's quite funny now though, coz he's going up to everyone in the congregation that Andy and I are talking to and then tells them that we're related...
And then Andy and I are getting confirmed on Easter Sunday. It's taken a long time and I had asked Brian so many times for classes, but now it's so close. I really can't wait. I've been ready for thins for a long time and I'm so excited.

This weekend we're going to our favourite caravan park for a long weekend away...actually, Andy, Dad and Mom are already there tonight, Nelson and I are joining them tomorrow coz I've got University and Nelson has work and all that stuff. It's strange not having them in the house, but I'll be there tomorrow and relaxing between using Dad's lap top for university work...yes I'm taking that with me on holiday...how pathetic...lol...but that's my life...what can I say...
Well I've got to finally end this long essay of my life and go eat and head off to our Thursday night service of Faith Reflexion...so keen for this one coz we watched "The Book of Eli" last night and we're gonna discuss it tonight. It's gonna be a very interesting discussion about a very thought provoking movie.

I'll try write again as soon as possible :)
Much love,

Celebrate Good Times Come On!!!!

Ola lovely and amazing people :)

So my first post of 2010 and it's almost half way through January!!! Oh well...Well...let's see... NEW YEARS WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went to the 5fm Ballito Street party with Andy and Janine, my cuz Claire and my guy Nelson:) (For those playing catch up...Nelson is my boyfriend and yes this is the 5th time we are trying)

It was awesome :) we brought in the New Year the most amazing DJ's in the country and SA's no.1 beat boxer :) even got to see DJ Fresh so I was over the moon about that :) but the best was dancing in the rain :) it was so hot that the rain just was a blessing in disguise:)

And there's more great news...I passed all my subjects for 2009 which means I start my 3rd year this year... I can't wait...it's gonna be just so amazing to do it...I'm gonna be specialising this year so I'm really ecstatic about that. I'll be specialising in instrumental teaching methods so I'm really keen on that :) and I'm also doing my associate diploma for Trinity College this year and my Grade 8 flute...I'm gonna be so busy, and Durban City Orchestra is really taking off again:) We have been booked for so many concerts this year and schools are even asking us to play for them:) It's so amazing:)

Holidays!!!!!!!

Well, whoever said that holidays were relaxing clearly did not live in our house lol...

I finished exams last week Friday with my last exam being my piano exam. I played what I feel is the most beautiful Debussy piece called "The Girl With The Flaxen Hair", I also played the dreaded Beethoven and then a piece that has been the most fun I've had playing a piece in a long time. It is a duet by Peulanc. I can't remember the name of it, but it was so much fun. It was a modern piece and the funny sounding notes are on purpose, but add to the piece instead of detract from it.

But now I'm on "holiday." I'm still running around like a chicken with no head most evenings and Durban City Orchestra is even more hectic than ever with 3 Christmas concerts coming up in 1, 5 and 6 December and now I'm playing piano for some of the pieces for the concerts and it's slightly driving me insane. I've also now been contacted by my friends band and they've asked me to do session work for them on their upcoming album playing keyboard. I'm still waiting for the phone call from Warren as to when I'm meeting him. Hopefully soon so that I can get in and out of studio fast so that the album can be finished.

Friday 13 November wasn't only the last day for exams for me, but I was given the most amazing opportunity from a jazz mate at the university. Dane Frances is an amazing jazz guitarist and he's always wanted to do something with me on flute and he finally had his chance and gave me amazing exposure in the jazz gospel field by asking me to play with an amazing group for a guys album launch. The album is called "Walk By Faith" and the guy is Marvon Nelson. The group was amazing and even though I barely knew them, the group welcomed me with open arms and the amount of respect that was given to each member was amazing. Standing on stage in that type of evnironment was spectacular and surprisingly, not nerve-wracking in any way, I believe that we got on that stage fearless by the grace of God because these people want to be blessings to God and that is an amazing gift.

I know it's also only been a month since Paul and I broke up, but it's safe to say he's moved on and I'm happy for him. Two weeks after we ended, he was back with an ex-girlfriend of his from two years ago. She makes him happy and I'm glad for that. I have also moved on and back into the arms of an ex-boyfriend...gosh Paul and I know how to do things don't we? lol, I'm back with my ex-boyfriend Nelson and we're hoping 5th times a charm. We know we've been together so many times before, but we think we were young and stupid back then and we really want this to work now. We're really happy right now, it's still new and has only been a week and I know there will be bumps in the road, but we're taking this a step at a time and that's the best for us.

Hehe and in other news...I've got glasses!!!! Andy is now the only one in our family without a pair of sexy spectacles!!! I have the same eye issues as my mom, I noticed about two or three weeks ago that I was leaning into my music to make it clearer and I spoke to my mom so we made an appointment at the optometrist. So now I have glasses coz my eyes have focusing issues and my distance is now going as well. So my loving brother says my list of disabilities is now growing: I'm short and I'm short sighted...you gotta love him, but I have peace of mind that when we're the same ages as our my parents....my eyes are gonna be better than his!!!!!!!! -insert evil laugh here-
But I love him and I have to admit that I think my glasses look really nice on me. Oh well, at least I can still walk around with them off and not have terrible issues:)

I just want my family in America to know that I am missing them dearly and I'm hoping that at some point soon either I'll be able to visit you or you get to come here. You guys are always in my thoughts no matter what.

Much love

It's been a while...

Si it's been a while since I've been on here, writing my blog... life's been busy and I hardly ever touch the computer unless it's for assignments so you can understand then why I haven' written all that much...well not at all...these past few months.

Well, the biggest news as most of you know is that as of 22 Sept...I'm 20!!! No longer counted as a teenager...but not yet counted as an adult...everyone seens teens are such an inbetween age...I think being 20 is lol. I didn't do much exciting for my birthday though. I just invited a group of friends over and I wanna thank them for coming even if the Afrikaans boys barely stayed for 45 minutes. But I do wanna thank Mom, Dad, Tannie Berta, Jacques, Paul, Andy, Janine, Tatum, Telise, Kylie, Edd, Ian, Johan, Juan and Gerrie for coming. You guys made it awesome.

Then there was Charlene's wedding. Wow was Charlene beautiful and little Amber was the most precious child I have ever seen. It was such an honour for me to play at the wedding though. I get to see the view only the minister sees through the ceremony, I get to see the couples faces and I must admit it is beautiful. Charlene and Sias were absolutely glowing throughout the ceremony and I think it was absolutely beautiful.

I'm in exam time now for my second semester of the year. I'm crazy busy again, but at least I've written history and then I have piano and flute next week. Giving me lots of time to practise :)

There is some news I have to tell before I head off, for those who know that I have been dating Paul for the past 7 months, I'm sad to say that we have ended the relationship. I'm not going to go through all the details coz I would like to keep it between Paul and I. But I wanna thank my friends who have been there for me and have helped me through this. I really appreciate it. It's been 2 weeks now, the sun is shining and life is beautiful to say the least. I'm gonna live my life and enjoy it to the fullest.

The Confusion

I'm starting to feel slightly sorry for my older brother Andy. He's been so used to me being into normal popular music that it's shocked him for me to come back and be so into classical music. I guess that's what happens when it's surrounded you 24/7 for over a week.

I drove my car for the first time today since I got back. I have to admit that it felt wierd to be driving somewhere now after being able to walk anywhere you needed to go for 11-12 days, but anyway, i immediately took at the Lily allen cd I had left in my car and put in the "Four Seasons" cd...I guess it's good for me, but it's so hard for me now coz I want to share all this amazing music with me friends here in my town and it's not possible. Andy looked at me like I was crazy when I played him "Violoncelles, Vibrez!" when I got back. I guess I've got to start getting used to it, coz i doubt any of my friends in Toti are going to understand that much. Luckily I do have friends out there that understand my excitement when I talk about certain pieces...it's just sad that there are those out there who really can't appreciate the sound of classical music coz if it wasn't for classical music then they wouldn't have what they listen to today.

Stellenbosch International Chamber Festival!!!!!

Wow...I have to say...these past 11 days have just been so amazing...I really wish more people were there to be part of this festival. The KZN Youth Orchestra were asked to perform for one of the lunch hour concerts so we participated in the entire festival :)

Every night was a classical concert. On Tuesday I thought the concert of the week was going to be Daniel Rowland playing the "Four Seasons" but then they played "Violoncelles, Vibrez!" with Thomas Carroll and Peter Martens soloing on cello and everyone agrees that the was the piece of the week. Everyone was on the edge of their seats and they recieved a FULL standing ovation!!!

Every morning we were up early for breakfast and then we had rehearsals for the concert orchestra and the symphony orchestra from 9h00 - 12h00. Then we would rehearse with our ensembles...wow...that was an experience. For my ensemble we played the first movement of Mozart's quartet in G major...luckily it wasn't the famous one...we were supposed to perform the full thing....but as per usual...I was the only one that actually worked on it and could play my part. But supposedly we were the best at that time slot so I'm happy and I made four new frieneds in the process.

I met some amazing people there and strengthened some friendships:) It was awesome:) Definately going back next year.
